About this program:Â
Intimacy from the Inside Out © (IFIO) is an experiential model combining intra-psychic work with interpersonal exploration. IFIO uses intimate relationships as a vehicle for growth and healing of both the individual and the couple. Developed and presented by Senior IFS Trainer and founder of IFIO, Toni Herbine-Blank, MSN, RN and Certified IFS Therapist and Senior IFIO Trainer, John Palmer, LCSW this program is designed for those who currently have a basic understanding of core IFSSM principles and want to expand their knowledge about how to apply IFS relationally.
This learning program was held live in Spring 2024.
Module 1: Introduction to the Model
In this module, you will get an overview of the model, including key concepts and theory. You will also spend some time exploring your own therapist parts.
Module 2: Getting Started with a Couple
In this module, you’ll learn how to start working with a couple, explain the IFIO contracts for therapy, define unblending as it pertains to inner differentiation, and explain direct access to clients.
Module 3: Tracking Sequences
In this module, you’ll learn about the second basic IFIO protocol, tracking sequences of the conflict. You’ll familiarize yourself with the three components of tracking sequences, learn how to describe the process of the protocol, and discover the purpose of tracking sequences.
Module 4: Individual Work in the Presence of a Witnessing Other
In this module, you’ll learn about performing individual IFS work in the presence of a witnessing other, the importance of working with the autonomic nervous system in relationship therapy, and how to facilitate co-regulation between partners.
Module 5: Courageous Communication
In this module, you’ll learn about the importance of courageous communication—how to define it, explain the iceberg effect of communication, and describe the process for helping the speaking partner speak for parts from Self.
Module 6: Anger and Needs
In this module, you’ll learn about how unmet core emotional needs from childhood surface in the context of adult relationships. You will hear how we address this in IFIO couple therapy through leading individuals in an experience that shows how couples can safely address asking to have needs met.
